   
As a child I was slightly obsessed with Henry VIII and his six wives. I think it was a morbid fascination that two of them came to such a sticky end and all for the sole purpose of having a son and heir. If only he knew what a strong Queen, Elizabeth would become. He could’ve chilled out a bit and maybe lived happily ever after with Anne Boleyn, after all he did go to quite some lengths to marry her. We’ll never know the answer to that one though and really, it’s only a tiny bit of the history of this beautiful Palace.
One of my earliest memories is visiting Hampton Court on a day trip from my childhood home in West Sussex. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any ghosts in the haunted gallery, but as I was wandering round the maze, I did see Concorde fly over, which was very cool and very noisy.
Nowadays, we live within walking distance and see it regularly – I still love it just as much, especially the summer concerts. If you’ve never been, I’d recommend it. They are quite expensive, but the venue can’t be beaten.
